About Us
Friends Robb Hamic and Ryan Fellows who have varied experience formed Taos Tactical as
they reminisced over memories of military / police training gone by; war stories, if you will,
about past high-adrenaline good times. They were both currently involved in action sports, police
and military instruction, individual self-defense training and had amassed many credentials
throughout their lives.
Ryan has a skill set involving professional action sports photography and owns
photography studios and restaurants. He has specialized in hospitality for most of his life. He is
a nationally recognized Law Enforcement Trainer, handgun, shotgun instructor for law enforcement,
military and individuals. He is a Concealed carry (concealed handgun license- CCW, CHL) instructor
in several states. He is a hand-to-hand self-defense coach and trainer. He specializes in Israeli
styles for the real-life application and usefulness in violent attacks.
Anyone who knows Ryan, knows that he is high-energy and passionate. He is known as a
'Taos native' and basically spent much of his life in the small mountain community. He loves
extreme sports and activities including backcountry skiing, rappelling, land navigation, mountain
climbing, white-water rafting, hiking and backpacking. He co-owns the exclusive ski photography
business for Taos Ski Valley, Cold Smoke Photography. He has owned a cabin in Taos for over a
decade and spends most of the wintertime on the mountain.
Robb has a diversified skill-set that started with his service as a US Army Desert
Storm Veteran. He is also a veteran of the Bernalillo County, NM Sheriff's Department as a Deputy
and Detective. He entered private business in 1999 starting a private security/ investigation
company that has expanded to a number of Southwest states specializing in high-risk physical
security, corporate intelligence, surveillance and personal protection.
Robb recognized that he needed to be a top-notch
trainer in order to keep up with staffing requirements and what can only be defined as an obsession
with gaining law enforcement / military training instructor designations through his own personal
development. He started with all of the standard training and has since advanced to alternative
methods of instruction including all areas of personal self defense and weapons training.
Robb's training evolution has taken
him all over the world and he currently trains several dozen large US police departments, the US
Military and foreign governments have requested his instruction. He is an up-to-date instructor and
teaches almost every small arms weapons system available, Israeli Krav Maga and American
combatitives, ground survival and combat, Israeli Tactical Knife Fighting, etc. Robb is a Certified
Israeli Krav Maga Instructor who trains under IMI Lichtenfield's successor Krav Maga's Grand Master
Haim Gidon, Combat Focus Shooting founder Rob Pincus, Counter-terror expert Nir Maman among
others, Ground Survival, Israeli Tactical Knife Fighting (ITK), Combat Wrestling, Combat Focus
Shooting Instructor and a Personal Defense Readiness (PDR) Instructor under training legend
Tony Blauer founder of Blauer Tactical Systems.
Taos Tactical has relationships with the right
people to deliver the best and most appropriate training to its students. It has over a dozen
adjunct instructors who are recent US Combat Veterans, Israeli Combat Veterans, Federal and Law
Enforcement, professional MMA fighters and professional self-defense trainers that fit into our
system of training.
"Our clients always get more than they
expect. I am personally tired of hearing about top-notch schools providing instructors who have not
been in real-world violent situations and instruct at these schools for no pay. How can you teach
something as serious as life and death 'in theory,' says Robb Hamic.
"The Taos Tactical experience will far exceed your expectations, both in
hospitality and dynamic training," says Ryan Fellows.
"We train our students to be their own
bodyguards with a quiet confidence that only comes with muscle memory."
